Timothy J. Fairplay

Timothy J. Fairplay is a British born composer, producer and DJ. Timothy started djing and producing electronic music in the late 90’s, soon after he moved to London and joined the cold wave band Battant who played at parties like Andrew Weatherall’s Haywire Sessions and toured with Adult, before signing to Kill The DJ. Timothy quit the band in 2009 releasing his first solo record in 2011 and has since released music on labels including Pinkman/Charlois, Emotional Response, Knekelhuis, Bordello A Parigi, World Unknown, Mechatronica, Giallo Disco, Bird Scarer, Höga Nord, Nocta Numerica,
Mystic & Quantum, Weapons Of Desire, Italo Moderni and Brokntoys.
Timothy starting working with Andrew Weatherall in 2010 as they already shared a studio. He went on to engineer and co-produce all of Andrews output for the next six years producing remixes for artists such as New Order, Primal Scream and Nick Cave, and the album they made together as The Asphodells ‘Ruled By Passion, Destroyed By Lust’ released on Rotters Golf Club.
In 2011 he co-founded the Crimes Of The Future party in Glasgow which went on to become a label releasing music by Black Merlin, Anton Maiovvi, Perseus Traxx, Tapan, Twins, Mystic Bill, Vercetti Technicolor, Betonkust & Innershades, Rude 66, N.O.I.A, and more including Timothy under alias. On his other label Centurains Of Rome Timothy released mainly cassette solo albums.
As a DJ or live performer Timothy has played all over the world including The Good Room in New York, Fabric in London, Tresor Berlin, De School in Amsterdam, Robert Johnson in Offenbach, Elevator in Shanghai and The Sub Club in Glasgow. As well as at festivals like Convenanza, DT Camp and Intergalactic FM. Timothy’s music and dj style draws from a wide range of influences in the history of electronic music, Detroit techno and electro, Berlin School, Minimal Wave, Italo, Chicago House, electronic film scores, Sheffield Bleep, New Beat, and New Age. Timothy has had a monthly radio show since 2017 which moved to Mutant Radio in 2020. In 2019 Timothy started new club night called Dungeon Module which also became a label in 2021, the first release being a new album by Timothy called ‘A Snowstorm In The Tropics’.
Timothy released three albums on the label in 2023 and starts 2024 with a 12” on Dalmata Daniel and a new album on Pinkman.
