PRINS EMANUEL

Creating music that flows effortlessly through time requires a thoughtful approach, which Prins Emanuel has been softly contributing to the under- branches of the leftfield scene for about a decade. His productions, drawing from soundsystem-optimized dub to bedroom pop and avant-garde experimentation, reflect his many and diverse influences. Rather than claiming a mastery of these genres, he delicately navigates this eclectic approach with subtle nuances of rhythm and melody, constructing immersive sonic works.
With roots in a club culture where left-field dance holds the same gravity as ambient jazz or post-punk, Prins Emanuel blurs the lines between the dancefloor and the experimental. His music, often delivered with an idiosyncratic tongue-in-cheek approach embodies a philosophy that embraces both the DJ booth and the studio as instruments in their own right.
Beyond collaborations with Fasaan Rec. partners Golden Ivy and Inre Kretsen Grupp and the duo Hamuli Plene with German sound artist Phil Struck, Prins Emanuel has made his mark on labels like Music From Memory, Séance Centre, Flee Project, and JJ Funhouse. Operating his labels, Fasaan and Ny Agenda, he has garnered support for his no-nonsense approach which blurs the lines between avant-garde, pop sensibility and rhythmic oddballism.
In his solo outings, he has touched upon a wide range of musics, from Russell- esque grandeur to introspective guitar meditations, fourth world music, ambient-leaning jazz, and icy, post-industrial electronics. Despite, or maybe because of this, Prins Emanuel effortlessly sails, staunchly untroubled, through different musical realms, creating a distinctive brand of rhythmic minimalism, which holds its own, highly personal space in the leftfield scene.
