Shape+ Workshop - “Hai dadai dadadai: Sound & Story” with Scott McCulloch and Alilo
In partnership with the European Union-funded SHAPE+ platform, we are holding a workshop titled “Hai dadai dadadai: Sound & Story” with Scott McCulloch and Alilo.
Theme: How do music and literature overlap? How do we give our musical compositions a sense of narrative?
This workshop explores the relationship between sound and storytelling. In an open discussion, participants will engage with music and literature ranging from the ancient to the modern—from folk music and lore to contemporary experimental sound art and poetry—to consider the roles and ways in which story and music shape each other. Musician and author Scott McCulloch will share personal and historical compositions and materials that explore ritualism in the avant-garde, while musician Alexandre Kharanauli will discuss the traditional polyphonic singing style of ‘Gvrini’—working songs from the Pshav-Khevsur highlands of Georgia.
The event will be followed by live and DJ performances:
